Hypnotherapy is a naturalistic approach that uses the client’s present resources and strengths to further and accomplish meaningful goals. Hypnotherapists put the client in a deep state of heightened relaxation which allows the unconscious to be gently brought to the surface. Using positive suggestion techniques, a hypnotherapist can help to modify a client's behaviour, attitudes and emotions, as well as manage pain, anxiety, stress-related illnesses and dysfunctional habits, promoting personal development.

Hypnosis is one of the most effective and safest tools for releasing mental and emotional blocks that keep us from achieving goals and creating the life we really want. Everyone who is willing to relax and enjoy the benefits of hypnosis can be hypnotised. Anyone who can follow directions can be hypnotised. We experience hypnosis every day and most people are completely unaware of it. It is a relaxed, focused state of concentration which most people go in and out of every day. It may be being immersed in a book or film or driving, where you arrive at your destination without consciously being aware of the actual process of driving. Your subconscious is in charge of repetitious, learned behaviour and you can drive safely while your conscious mind is otherwise engaged.

Hypnotherapy is commonly used to tackle unhealthy or self-destructive habits and stress related issues. It can also be an effective treatment for phobias such as public speaking and flying. The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) also recently acknowledged that hypnotherapy can be beneficial for physical issues such as Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

Everyone has the ability to be hypnotised. It is a natural, normal state that is entered at least twice each day, when waking and falling asleep. A similar state to hypnosis is achieved when daydreaming, driving and arriving at a destination automatically, meditating, or being deeply engrossed in a project, film or conversation where time seems to fly by. Importantly it is whether a person will allow the help required to enter hypnosis. Most people go into hypnosis easily once it is understood that they remain conscious and do not surrender their will. The main reason some people will not allow themselves to be hypnotised is the fear of loss of control, a falsehood, if a person is comfortable with the process and hypnotherapist and knows what to expect, it's remarkably easy.
